The Dysplasia Clinic

Cervical-uterine cancer in Mexico is more common than we imagine, as every two hours a woman dies of this disease. Each year, more than 5000 women die. The disease affects women of reproductive age, and it has a profound impact on family life in that it destroys the nucleus of society and leaves children unprotected.

Cervical-uterine cancer evolves slowly, enabling timely detection and treatment. It is an avoidable disease and 100% curable when it is detected and diagnosed on time. In the dysplasia clinic, we diagnose and treat cervical cancer. We understand a timely diagnosis of cervical cancer to mean that it is detected in its initial stage, that is, not advanced (invasive cancer); whereas in the later stage, the possibilities of curing the disease are reduced.

The colposcopy is a highly reliable procedure for detecting and diagnosing lesions of the cervix in their early stages. Colposcopy was first used in Germany 70 years ago. The technique has become more sophisticated, making use of the latest advances in science and technology, modern resources used by medicine.

The colposcopy is a simple procedure which enables the exploration of the female lower genital tract without discomfort, using a vaginal speculum and viewing the tissues externally by means of a colposcopic microscope. When used by a medical expert, the vulva, vagina and cervix can be identified as normal or abnormal.
